‘Crackdown on illegals to begin next Sunday’ (Mar. 1)

Most of the so-called illegal expatriates came to the Kingdom on legal visas, but when what they expected to be a bed of roses turned out to be hell on earth, they decided to run away from their despotic employers and thus ended up being branded “illegal expatriates”.

Most of the so-called illegal expatriates came to the Kingdom on legal visas, but when what they expected to be a bed of roses turned out to be hell on earth, they decided to run away from their despotic employers and thus ended up being branded “illegal expatriates”.

So someone tell us: Who made these legal expatriates illegal? Was it not their own Saudi employers? So why target the employees alone and not the employers as well? The sister of my cousin was a victim of maltreatment, but fortunately, she managed to make it back home.

I hope they will include those who are paying for iqamas (residence permits) to former employers but are without a real job.

Karen Anne

Don’t say illegal expatriates. The government must close stupid illegal companies which do not provide iqamas to expatriates.

Please take action against these companies first then expatriates. How can these so-called illegal expatriates enter the Kingdom in the first place.

Saudi sponsors are responsible for them being here.

Ibrahim Ali

If you want to crackdown on illegal expats, start at Saudi houses and don’t close your eyes, because  you know who hires them.

Alfredo Palacios

And companies which don’t pay salaries, can they start an intensive crackdown on them? And on employers who don’t respect the contract that they signed with their employees? Even if you want to bring a cat into Saudi Arabia, it needs 100 signatures from diverse ministries, so where are all these illegal expats coming from? Who is bringing them to Saudi Arabia?

Veronique Hoblos

Please take action against those sponsors who bring expats as part of a visa business and then later declare them to be “Illegal”.
