AYIS, Al-Khozama share honors in Peevees badminton

RIYADH — Al-Yasmin International School (AYIS), Riyadh, and Al-Khozama International School, Dammam, shared the winner’s trophy at the 2nd Peevees Girls Badminton Tournament here recently.

The tournament began with a series of matches in the Under-14, -16 and -19 categories. Following a tough competition, AYIS and Al-Khozama School ended with 36 points each – thereby sharing the honors.

New Al-Wurood International School, Jeddah, was the other team taking part in tournament.

The tournament began with recitation from the Holy Qur’an. K. Rahamathullah, principal of AYIS, delivered the welcome note. He emphasized the fact that the Peevees Group of schools works diligently to increase the participation of girls in education and sports.

Dr. Shaukat Pervez, chapter convener and principal of International Indian School, Riyadh, the guest of honor, cheered the participants and appreciated the efforts made by the Peevees Group of Schools in organizing the event.

The chief guest, Dr. Shafi Ahmed Sattar, chairman, School Managing Committee, International Indian School, Riyadh, along with the school management committee members graced the occasion and distributed trophies to the winners.

The coaches from the three schools were equally appreciated. The PE Coordinators of the participating schools did a phenomenal job in organizing the tournament.

Kadhiresan, vice principal (Boys Section), proposed the vote of thanks.  The 2nd Peevees Badminton Tournament 2015 formally came to an end with the rendition of Saudi national anthem followed by the Indian national anthem.

All the players’ left the stadium cheerful, sharing their experiences. This event offered the students an opportunity to exhibit true sportsmanship.
