“Dear customer, you can receive a new loan apart from the one you have already taken by subscribing to our new integrated product. For more information you may visit our nearest branch or our website on the Internet.” I received this message from a local bank recently.

Our commercial banks encourage the public to take loans offering different attractive products of finance, claiming they are Islamic products. But these products have nothing to do with Islam and I have the evidence, which I can show to anyone who wants to see it.

I believe that nobody is interested to follow the activities of banks, which are united in exploiting the helpless citizens who look for loans due to various reasons. So please do not believe banks. This is my request.

It pained me a lot when my friend called me with deep anguish to tell about the plight of his daughter who works for a bank. He told me that the bank management has asked her to win new customers to open accounts worth SR5 million in the branch where she works.

For achieving the target the bank offered her a month’s time. Masha Allah, may God reward them for that gesture. But, if failed she would be terminated from service. When I heard this story I became frustrated and told my friend that I will stand by him if his daughter faces termination.

How can our banks push our women to do such crazy things? How can a woman get a millionaire customer, when and from where? This is a frightening reality of our banks and many of us do not have even imagined about such incidents. This is provocative as well as repulsive.

They do all these things they do for what? Riyal. This is the case of most banks in the Kingdom. May God protect us from their wrong practices. I take this opportunity to call upon higher authorities to intervene to stop such negative practices immediately to save our society.
