JEDDAH — Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadli has said he was currently working to produce a water tariff that will be "acceptable to all".

"Concerted efforts will be exerted to upgrade water services to take the vital liquid to everyone everywhere," Al-Fadli said.

The minister said the water tariff will be approved by the Council of Ministers before it was formally issued.

He said the present tariff does not cover more than 30 to 35 percent of the actual cost of the water pumped to households.

Fadli on Sunday made a tour of all the departments under his ministry in Jeddah and held meetings with the concerned officials on ways and means to improve water services.

The meeting brought together senior officials of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, the National Water Company and the Directorate General of Water in the region.

The minister said he discussed with senior officials the best means of providing consummate services to the citizens and expatriates.

He said they also discussed the provision of enough quantities of water in summer, especially with the increasing number of Haj and Umrah pilgrims.
He said there will not be any water cuts for subscribers.
