JOUF — A fuel truck caught fire east of Sakaka Governorate. Jouf Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Gen. Muayish Al-Ruwaili said the Civil Defense received reports of a fire of a fuel truck near a gas station. The truck was parked behind a gas station near the cattle market east of Sakaka. The Civil Defense extinguished the fire before it extended to the nearby gas station. The Civil Defense also cleaned the area of any leaked gases.

202 kg of
hashish seized

RIYADH —The Border Guard seized 202 kg of hashish on Wednesday. Border Guard spokesman Saher Al-Harbi said the Border Guard spotted a group of smugglers attempting to intrude into the Kingdom’s borders through Siqam Area. The Border Guard exchanged fire with the smugglers before arresting them. The Border Guard seized a large amount of hashish from them — a total of 202 kg of hashish. — Mishaal Al-Otaibi

Patient paralyzed
after operation

TABUK — A patient became paralyzed after undergoing a surgical operation in a public hospital. The brother of the patient filed a complaint at Tabuk Health Affairs with regards to a medical error his brother was a victim to. The patient was admitted to the emergency ward after feeling a numbing sensation in his left hand. The doctors evaluated the condition of the patient and decided to have an operation on the patient’s cervical vertebrae. The patient became paralyzed as a result of the operation. The doctor, following the operation, fled the country in a hurry. Tabuk Health Affairs received the complaint and will investigate the case.

Three children
die in fire

NAJRAN — Three children died in a fire in Sharourah Governorate on Friday. Najran Civil Defense spokesman Capt. Abdulkhaliq Al-Qahtani said the Civil Defense received reports on Friday at 11:40 a.m. of a fire in a house. The Civil Defense extinguished the fire and hauled the deceased bodies of three children. The investigation revealed the children were messing around with a cistern located behind the one-story house. The cistern caught fire leading to this tragedy. The fire extended to the entire house. The Red Crescent transported the deceased victims to the hospital.

Yemeni shot
in the chest

NAJRAN — A Yemeni was shot to the right side of his chest and survived the shot following a quick operation at the King Khalid Hospital here. King Khalid Hospital General Supervisor Dr. Abdah Al-Zubaidi said the hospital received a patient in a critical condition. The patient had trouble breathing and was bleeding profusely due to his chest wound. He was partially paralyzed with an explosive bullet lodged in his chest. The bullet had dissolved and parts of it were dispersed inside his chest. The doctors managed to extract the remaining part of the bullet out of his chest. The patient is recovering and is in a stable health condition.
