DUBA – The Border Guard have foiled an attempt to smuggle into the Kingdom huge cache of drugs involving over two million amphetamine pills and nine kilograms of hashish in Duba in the northern Tabuk region.

Four people, including a Saudi, were arrested, according to Col. Saher Al-Harbi, spokesman of the Border Guard.

He said that the patrol units of Border Guard spotted a boat entering Saudi waters on Friday morning and then approaching the coast. The passengers were seen throwing several bags on to the Sharma beach, north of Duba region.

The Border Guard teams surrounded the boat and arrested three Egyptians and a Saudi who was waiting for them on the beach. The arrested smugglers and the seized drugs, including 2,364,636 amphetamine pills, were handed to the concerned agencies; the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the spokesman.

Bodies of two drowned in Allaith found

Meanwhile, the search and rescue teams from the Border Guard have retrieved on Friday bodies of two men drowned in the Red Sea in Allaith corniche in Makkah region.

The two were among five men who entered the prohibited area for swimming and fishing, using a fishhook. The Border Guard Command urged all those, who are going out to sea, not to put themselves in danger by swimming in areas not designed for the same.
