DOHA — Young readers of the Qur’an all around the world can now submit their entries for the next of season of “Tijan Al Noor” 2013. The widely-acclaimed yearly “Qur’an Recitation Contest” is organized by Al Jazeera Children’s channel (JCC).



Held in Ramadan, “Tijan Al Noor” hosts children aged between nine-13 and seeks to honor outstanding performers. The Pan-Arab children’s channel of choice for many Arab children and families said young readers can upload their recitations on www.jcc-quran-competition.tv.



According to JCC, the deadline for receiving entries for the contest is end of January 2013, and the contest will be aired in Ramadan next year.




The contest aims to communicate and instill supreme values in children, while promoting the correct use of classical Arabic and encouraging children to study and recite the Qur’an.



A panel comprising of prominent clerics and scholars specialized in Qur’an studies and readings will evaluate readers based on knowledge of intonation rules, quality of sound and performance, and recitation modulation. The assessment will determine the contestants who will qualify for the next stages of the competition.



“Tijan Al Noor” has achieved remarkable success in the past years and attracted participants from various countries, becoming one of the most important Qur’an recitation competition in the world. — SG
