OLIVER Wyman, a global leader in management consulting with a 20-year history in the Middle East, has expanded its already diverse Partner group with the appointment of a Saudi national Partner.

Abdulkarim Alyousef has been promoted from Principal to join the global Partners of the firm after delivering impactful outcomes for public sector projects, having worked closely with the Saudi and GCC governments.

In the past 12 years he has worked on critical economic diversification programs in the Kingdom delivering significant outcomes on sectoral and human capital development. Abdulkarim will add a tremendous set of capabilities and insights to the 20+ Oliver Wyman Partner group already active in the Kingdom.

“This promotion is very special,” said Alyousef. “As a Saudi national, it’s something I am very proud to have achieved and it shows that hard work and dedication pays off. Saudi Arabia, and more widely the region, is undergoing a massive transformational shift on many different levels. I look forward to using my consulting experience to continue to add deep value to our clients as the marketplace adapts to these new challenges and opportunities.”

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman in 2014, Abdulkarim worked at AT Kearney as a consultant and before that, he was an engineer at Saudi Aramco from 2004–2007.

He has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and Bachelor in Engineering from New Mexico State University.

Oliver Wyman continues to strengthen its public sector practice in the region. Alyousef will continue to work on ‘economic cities’ and industrial diversification along with the partners focused on the Kingdom. His responsibilities will also include recruitment in Saudi Arabia where he will play an important role in hand picking and nurturing Saudi national talent to leverage their global experience as the Kingdom undertakes its economic and social reforms.

Pedro Oliveira, Oliver Wyman’s Geo Head for the Middle East and Africa, said Oliver Wyman is focused on attracting and developing the most talented people in the region.

Oliveira said: “Our clients are looking for smart thinking like never before. Abdulkarim not only offers this, but he brings unparalleled regional intelligence and insight that has seen him become a trusted adviser at the highest level. Abdulkarim embodies our core values of innovation, insight and tangible impact.”
