RIYADH — US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, who serves as an adviser in the White House, said on Sunday that social media is an incredibly power tool which empowers the people, particularly the next generation.

She was addressing Tweeps 2017, an interactive forum hosted by Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Philanthropic Foundation (MiSK).

Fox News host Bret Baier introduced the first daughter.

Sami Al-Jaber, member of the FIFA statue Committee, talked about extremism in sports field.

During a panel discussion, former football player for Saudi national team Majed Abdullah said, “People who like football should love their teams, should love the sport and the game, but also they should respect others’ opinion.”

Several topics were discussed during the event, including the challenges that the international community is facing in its war against extremism through social media and the role of Twitter and social media in aiding a social movement for women.

During the forum a speech by Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb was delivered focusing on the negative impact of hate speech and extremism on youth.

The forum was attended by leaders, decision-makers, thinkers from around the world.  They focused on discussing strategies using social media to counter extremism.

In the entrance hall of the forum, ‘Retroactive’ art exhibition was organized. The exhibition include several art pieces by Saudi artists like Ahmed Mater.
