THE Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli on Tuesday attended the inauguration ceremony of Al- Manara Development Company at KAUST as a limited liability company to enable the implementation of partnership programs between the university and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The official inauguration, which took place in Thuwal at KAUST, witnessed the attendance of Ali Bin Abdulrahman Al-Hazmi, the governor of the state-owned Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), the Executive Vice-President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Nadhmi Al-Nasr and Chairman of Al- Manara Development Company Dr. Abdulaziz Al Swailim.

Accompanied by the chairman of Al-Manara Development Company, the minister toured the research and aquaculture units of the company.

After the tour, Al-Nasr of KAUST welcomed the minister and his delegation and gave a brief introduction of KAUST and its facilities. During the visit, extended collaboration in the future was discussed by the minister and KAUST representatives.

On the sidelines of the visit, the governor of the state-owned SWCC Al-Hazmi signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KAUST to develop desalination technologies.
