Fashion giant Manish Malhotra spoke out about how his brand influenced Indians growing up abroad. In a recent interview, Malhotra opened up to foreign press about how he worked to bridge the gap between desi's born and raised abroad in conventional households with their home country. It is no surprise that Malhotra claims to seize the market either by design or default considering that relatability has given his brand popularity and massive international appeal. Manish Malhotra's designs have enabled expats living abroad to feel that they can relate to someone and celebrate ethnicity through fashion. Furthermore, this has also helped those living in India by allowing them a more fashion-forward outlook with international designs. "I introduced ‘cool’ Indian clothes to the confused NRI kids, who had a modern upbringing but somewhat conservative parents at home. The one-shoulder top worn with a sherara or a trendy ghagra had become staples for a glamorous sangeet. All this was introduced in the 1990's and that entire fashion cycle is back and so current now," Malhotra said. He claims to be 50 now but doesn't look it. The age-defying rockstar has dressed every A-list celebrity in B-town where he's spent 27 years of his life. Hugely popular in the Arab world for his ingenius designs, be it for Saudi royalty or Emirati fashionistas, Malhotra finally opened a flagship store in Dubai. His label is also loved and worn by Pakistanis who share the same fashion palette and has inspired thousands of new designers in the country to launch their labels. His label offers Bridal, Couture and Diffusion collections and currently retails at two stores in Mumbai and one in New Delhi. When his label went global with e-commerce in 2013, he made an easy one billion Indian rupees in record time. His creations aren't just 'a bride's dream dress' but his men's fashion line is hugely popular among men all around the world. Check out his latest collections online at www.manishmalhotra.in
