ETIHAD Etisalat (Mobily) has started data transfer operations on the submarine cable AAE-1 (Asia, Africa and Europe) which is the longest submarine cables in the world. This will support the Kingdom’s capabilities in transferring high capacities internationally, and to be an international link point for data transfer between Europe and the Far East.

Mobily’s success in launching the service on the continental submarine cable project is considered another quantum leap toward success achieved by the company for the Kingdom, and will enhance the optimization of telecommunication network infrastructure in the Kingdom by increasing internet capacities and expand information change and communication traffic between countries which will directly result in increasing internet speeds for users and will also meet the increasing demand of various telecom services and data for Mobily customers in particular and neighboring countries in general, and that is in line with KSA Vision 2030.

The cable extends over 25,000 kilometers and links the Far East countries from Hong Kong through East Asian strategic countries such as; Malaysia and Thailand, and connecting them with India and Pakistan via the Arabic Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Oman) then to African Countries (Djibouti and Egypt) reaching Europe (Greece, Italy, and France) with the lowest possible delay and the high transfer capacity of more than 40 Terabits per second. This will greatly contribute to the growth of business volume in the countries in which it is going.

Some 80% to 90% of communication traffic and data transformation between countries is directly made through the vital and strategic cables. The manufacturing of this new continental submarine cable (Asia, Africa, Europe-1) received the latest chemical and mechanical layers that designed specifically to play a role in protecting it from the dangers of cuttings which submarine cables exposed to from external forces during its long entity in the oceans and seas floor that affect negatively on the communication traffic and data transfer. — SG
