Singer Mohammed Abdu makes special appearance at cultural club

JEDDAH — Saudi singing legend Mohammed Abdu, popularly paid a special visit to the Saudi Cultural and Literary Club in Jeddah on Thursday.

The singer was received by Dr. Omar Al-Jasser, director of the club, members of its board of directors, writers, intellectuals and media figures.

Al-Jasser expressed his happiness at the visit to the club by "the Artist of the Arabs", who restored the spirit of art and culture with his visit and meetings with artists, intellectuals, media professionals, poets and art lovers.

Al-Jasser said the club had gone through difficult times previously but "today thanks to the efforts of its board members and staff, it will survive to serve local artists".

In his welcome address, columnist Homud Abu Talib, an adviser to the club, said, “This is a truly magnificent night in the history for the club. We do feel proud to host such a top figure.”

On his part, Mohammed Abdu thanked the club for its role in supporting Saudi artists and said after all these years since it was founded "Saudi Arabia has transformed itself into a cultural hub for the whole world."

He emphasized the cultural level of Saudi artists and intellectuals and said he was moved by the invitation to join the club as a member.

At the end, Abdu toured the club and listened to an explanation about its activities in the field of culture and arts.
