JEDDAH — Keeping up its annual tradition, ALBAIK has launched the “With ALBAIK, You Are the House Hero” summer program for the year 2017 in Jeddah and Makkah. The program will host 600 trainees aspiring to acquire and develop new practical skills and expertise to be able to actively assist their families in household affairs and develop their social status as good citizens.

This year’s program will continue for four weeks — from July 9 to August 6, 2017. The activities for girls will take place at the Jeddah Science Center, while the boys’ program will be held at the Secondary Industrial Institute in Jeddah and the Makkah Technical College of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, with the cooperation and support of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the Directorate General of Civil Defense.

The CEO of ALBAIK Food Systems Ltd Eng. Rami Abu Ghazaleh expressed his pride to be launching the 16th season, saying that it is an important initiative aimed at providing participants with practical professional experience that complements their academic education, in addition to developing their confidence and self esteem, which will benefit them within their families today, and contribute to the improvement of their lives in the future.

Abu Ghazaleh said: “The ”With ALBAIK, You Are the House Hero” program has become known as a major summer event for children and young adults in Jeddah and Makkah. It has become clear over the past years that participating in this program is beneficial for trainees inside and outside their homes; especially since the program includes activities that keep up with modern times and the evolving mindsets of the Kingdom’s youth. The program provides them with a set of fundamental skills that can enable them to prove themselves and respond to future challenges, particularly when it comes to theoretically and scientifically technical fields.”

The boys’ training courses are focused this year on the theoretical and practical basics of computer maintenance, cell phone maintenance, electricity basics, car mechanics, painting and household plumbing. As for the girls’ courses, they will be focused on science and art, health and nutrition, sports and fitness, 3D design, design and creativity, digital storytelling, and water printing; with a new course introduced of the basics of cell phone maintenance. All trainees will be given special courses on firefighting and using fire extinguishers by certified training representatives of the Civil Defense, in addition to first aid, cardiac resuscitation and CPR by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.

Upon completion of the program, all trainees will receive graduation certificates approved by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Technical College, Jeddah Science Center, the Directorate of Civil Defense and the Saudi Red Crescent in Makkah. They will also receive certificates of appreciation from ALBAIK for participating in the program.

Moreover, Abu Ghazaleh said: “At ALBAIK, we aspire to contribute to the establishment of a new generation of young adults who are independent, equipped with the knowledge and willpower to carry out professional work, and ready and willing to fulfill their roles in society through developing their senses and enhancing their abilities to deal with various situations -especially accidents that happen at home, school or anywhere else, God forbid.”

Since its inception in 2001 the “With ALBAIK, You Are The House Hero” summer program has trained over 8,200 participants. Today, in its 16th consecutive year, the program offers its activities to boys aged 12 to 18 and girls aged 10 to 15.

The “With ALBAIK, You Are The House Hero” program comes within ALBAIK Food Systems Ltd.’s continual efforts towards fulfilling its role and commitment to the Saudi society and providing youth with the chance to develop their skills by training them in an engaging and motivating manner throughout the summer. It is worth noting that trainees in the program are assessed based on their performance, engagement and practical results throughout the program’s cycles. — SG
