Aden — Two terror suspects with links to Qatar, who are on the designated terror list announced by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain, have been arrested in Hadhramaut, east of Yemen.

Security sources said Hadrami elite forces detained Abdullah Mohammed Ali Al-Yazidi and Ahmad Ali Ahmad Baraoud as part of a security campaign to pursue and detain members accused of facilitating Al-Qaeda’s work and supporting terrorism after the recent terror lists announced by four Arab countries calling to fight terrorism.

The terror lists announced on Tuesday include three Yemeni individuals and three Yemeni entities, which are Al-Balagh Charitable Foundation, Al-lhsan Charitable Society and Rahma Charitable Organization.

Yazidi, born in 1957, is the head of Al-lhsan Charitable Society and a partner in the Rahma Charitable Organization which is affiliated with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and which is sanctioned by the US.

Yazidi was a member of the Hadhrami Domestic Council which was affiliated with AQAP when the Yemeni city of Mukalla was under the group’s control in 2015. In the beginning of 2016, the council selected Yazidi to restructure the council’s administration.

Mukalla was later liberated in mid-2016 by Yemeni forces and the Arab Coalition.

According to local reports in 2016, he participated in launching projects in Hadhramaut that are sponsored by Eid Charity affiliated with Qatar and Qatar Charity.

He was arrested in May 2016 by local authorities for supporting AQAP. A daily affiliated with the group condemned his arrest and demanded his release.

Yazidi is also a founding member of the global campaign to resist the aggression, a campaign led by the Qatari Al-Qaeda funder Abdulrahman Bin Omair Al-Nauimi who is on the terror lists announced by the UN and the US.

Baraoud, born in 1956, was head of the Rahma Charitable Organization that supports AQAP and which is sanctioned by the US.

According to local reports, in February 2014, he was a guest of honor in an event held in Hadhramaut and which was sponsored by Eid Charity.

Baraoud was also arrested in May 2016 by local authorities for supporting (AQAP), and a daily affiliated with the group condemned his arrest and demanded his release.

He was also a member of the Hadhrami Domestic Council.

In June 2017, the US government identified the Hadhrami Domestic Council as a “proxy or cover organization” established by AQAP to “help govern territories it controls, and to manage issues such as administration, economics, security, and building relationships with citizens” in Yemen. — Al Arabiya English
