‘Book and Save’ with Shangri La Hotel

Hong Kong Based Hospitality Group Thrives In Dubai

Undergoing a much-needed face-lift, Shangri La is one of the oldest hotels on Sheikh Zayed road in Dubai. Situated next to Dubai mall and Dubai’s downtown financial district, its prime location is one of its greatest strengths. Shangri La’s serviced apartments are great for bigger families, while the hotel is popular for business travelers and couples. The hotel is undergoing renovation, which creates a lot of noise if you are staying in the old rooms on the lower floors, but new rooms and suites are also readily available. From better amenities to interiors, new marble-slated bathrooms and even carpeting, the hotel was in dire need of an update, which you will be able to witness this summer. Here is hoping they do the same for the timeworn apartments.

The hotel has 302 rooms and suites – from Deluxe and renovated Premier rooms, to Horizon Club One Bedroom Suites and Presidential Suites. The premier rooms are good enough for two and a child at best. If you are traveling alone or with your family, check out the affordable summer offers. The service standards aren’t phenomenal, though the house keeping and Horizon club staff are extremely polite and a few even remarkable. When it comes down to the overall experience, it lacks the human touch. It may be comfortable yet nothing special. If you seek a more personalized experience, you may be disappointed. While luxury hotels around the world are working on ‘personalizing your stay’ Shangri La Dubai lacks the quality of making your stay memorable or an abode you would want to call home. The hotel rooms could do with more tech elements- such as smart TVs, Bluetooth enabled devices or just more entertainment options for a holistic experience. However for a five star hotel, the surprisingly low rates this season are incredible including offers you cannot miss. If you have access to the Horizon lounge, you can enjoy an assortment of food and beverages throughout the day. Given one of the hottest summers in Dubai, you can use the indoor infinity pool overlooking the stunning skyline with magnificent views of the Burj Khalifa. You can also book a private dining experience on the rooftop for an Instagram worthy affair.

The hotel has a lot in store including a spa, salon, squash court, gym, an outdoor lounge with a pool and a variety of eight restaurants within the hotel.

Overall rating: 3.5/5
