Pakistan Consulate holds Mango Festival on Independence Day

JEDDAH — The commercial section of consulate general of Pakistan arranged a Mango festival on eve of Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan at InterContinental Hotel on Monday.

Sami Jameel Abdullah, Chief of Protocol/Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affair Makkah Region, was chief guest at the occasion.

Consul Generals of various countries including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, South Africa, Philippines, Egypt and Morocco, a large number of diplomats from different countries including USA, UK, France and Turkey, business community of Jeddah and Pakistani community members attended the event.

Sami inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon. Later he also cut the cake to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Independence of Pakistan.

Shehryar Akbar Khan. Consul General of Pakistan, congratulated the Pakistani community on 70th anniversary of Independence Day in his opening remarks.

He expressed the significance of the Day and told that it was on this day that Muslims of Sub-continent were able to carve out an independent state for themselves, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He also expressed gratitude to the Custodian of two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman for continuous support to Pakistan and the Pakistani community living in Saudi Arabia.

The Consul General said this event has been organized in order to increase to trade relations of Pakistan with our brotherly country.

He told that Mango is called “King of Fruits” and Pakistan has the distinction to produce 1,600 different types of mangoes.

Earlier, Shahzad, the Commercial Counsellor, gave a brief introduction about the Pakistani mangoes, its types and qualities. Shahzad told the audience that the uniqueness of today’s event is that all the cuisine for the tonight’s dinner has been prepared using mangoes as an ingredient, a recipe never used before – ¬ SG
