MODON launches power supply service at central transmission station in Al-Kharj Industrial City

AL-KHARJ — The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON), in cooperation with the Saudi Electricity Company, launched power supply service of 380/132/33 /13.8 KV with capacity of 1000 MVA at the central transmission station in Al-Kharj Industrial City to meet the industrial demand for electricity and to achieve MODON objectives of providing services and facilities and complete infrastructure in all industrial cities.

Eng. Khalid Al Salem, Acting Director General of MODON, said the Authority has invested SR640 million in the transmission station and in the dual aerial line projects.

He pointed out that the project to launch electricity service to the central transmission station in Al-Kharj Industrial City comes within MODON plans to develop its industrial cities, complete the services and provide integrated infrastructure. He stressed MODON's keenness to achieve the highest international standards in its industrial cities, and provide all basic services needed by the industrial investor.

The project includes design works, construction of buildings and design, manufacture, supply, installation and testing of all the required equipment in the project, as well as the protection and communication modification works at the terminal. The implementation of the electrical circuits in the industrial city is ongoing, with four electrical circuits have been completed. Coordination with Saudi Electricity Company to release the electric current and provide service to investors of these sectors is in progress.

The Al-Kharj Industrial City is one of the modern integrated and developed industrial cities. It was established in 2009 on a total area of 99 million square meters. The development of 24 million square meters area has been completed. It includes 332 producing, existing, under construction and under formation factories in different activities, the most prominent of which are:the construction materials industry, metallurgy and food industries.

Al Kharj Industrial City is only 90 km away from near the city of Riyadh, and its vast land area would enable future expansion to keep up with the growing demand from industrial investors. — SG
