Atef and Arsalan steal the Morning show

JEDDAH — Atef of AGA slammed 118 runs to win against ATC, Arsalan of Black Hawks hit an unbeaten 77 in 25 balls to down Sadafco, Al Saudi Green had the last laugh against Apex Express and Stallions humbled MM Group in the quarterfinals of the Summer Morning Tournament. Stallions will face AGA and Al-Saudi Green will take on Black Hawks in the semifinals.

Al-Saudi Green thumped Apex Express by 6 wickets. Apex Express was bowled out for 143. Rizwan Khan stroked 45 and Abdulazeez 18. Adil took 3-27, Shadab Nadeem 2-19, Munzir Kidwai 2-25 and Abbas Saad 2-37.

Al-Saudi Green hit the winning target of 146 for 4 in 91 balls. Al-Saudi Green, after a shaky start, was stabilized by Mazhar Abbasi who made 57 in 37 balls and added 94 in 55 balls with Nazeer Farooqui who remained unbeaten on 46. Abbas Saad contributed 19. Masood took 2-28.

AGA defeated ATC by 6 wickets. ATC was restricted to 159 for 9. Usman Amjad hit 28, Shahzad Butt 35, Usman Jani 28 and Usman Khan an unbeaten 20. Mohammed Jaan grabbed 3-22 and Aslam 3-38.

AGA chasing for a berth in the last four reached 162 for 4 in 92 balls. Atef played an amazing innings hitting 12 sixes and 8 fours to compile 118 in 37 balls. He was supported by Mohsin (19).

Stallions defeated MM Group by 64 runs. Stallions piled up 187 for 6. AbdulRehman stroked 38 and Mansoor 39 as the two added 82 in 46 balls to give a fine start. Aqeel made 24 and Asim an unbeaten 16. Raheemullah took 2-24 and Junaid 2-25.

MM Group, in reply, was bowled out for 123. Junaid scored 42. Faizan grabbed 3-13, Talha 3-30 and Waqas 2-23.

Black Hawks downed Sadafco by 28 runs. Black Hawks plundered 172 for 8. Black Hawks were in trouble at 115 for 8 at the end of the 17th over. Arsalan blasted unbeaten 77 in mere 25 balls with 10 sixes and 2 fours to add 57 in 18 balls for the unbroken 9th wicket to completely change the complexion of the game. Earlier, Fahad scored 24, Rehan 16 and Anas 17.

Sadafco was stranded at 144 for 8. Salman scored 29 and Ahmed Mugheri 14. Ali Jaan Mugheri top scored with 47. Arsalan, after batting magnificently, scalped 3-25 and Ashfaq 2-21.

Afternoon Summer

In the last week’s pool matches, UCC downed Lothers to qualify for the semifinals, while the match between Thales Group and Jotun Penguins ended in a tie in the Summer Afternoon Tournament. Contraco, Jotun Penguins, Lothers and UCC made the last four.

Thales Group tied the match against Jotun Penguins. Jotun Penguins produced 180 for 7. Shabbir hit 46 and Sajid 47 to add 96 in 60 balls for the first wicket. Shafeeq Ahmed hit 47. Kausar took 3-43, Abid 2-24 and Yasir Khan 2-33.

Thales Group tied the match, making 180 for 9. Kausar top scored with 57 in 27 balls, Yasir made 18, Shahbaz 21 and Shahzad an unbeaten 18.

UCC prevailed over Lothers by 5 wickets. Lothers posted 130 for 5. Khurram Aziz hit 46, Gasni 26 and Suraj 23. Wajid emerged the chief destroyer with 4-17, Sarafaraz took 3-18 and Yasir Ameen 2-27.

UCC, in a must-win situation, took 115 balls to reach 133 for 5. Shahnawaz Khan remained unbeaten on 56 off 46 balls, Wajid hit 28 and Obaidurrehman 16.
