Supreme Court: Sight Dhul Hijja crescent today

RIYADH – The Supreme Court has called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the crescent of the month of Dhul Hijja on Monday (Aug. 21, 29 Dhul Qada 29 according to Umm Al-Qura calendar), Saudi Press Agency said.

The Supreme Court said any one who sees the new crescent by naked eyes or through binoculars must report to the nearest court and register his testimony.

“Any one who sights the moon and is unable to reach the courts should seek the help of the police," it said.

The court said if the crescent could not be sighted on Monday, then people should continue looking for it on Tuesday, Dhul Qada 30.

The sighting of Dhul Hijja moon will decide the day of Standing on Arafat, the climax of the Haj pilgrimage, and subsequently the Eid Al-Adha day.
