RIYADH – Riyadh police arrested a 20-member gang of criminals involved in robbery, theft, illegal possession of weapons and drugs. The gang included 11 Afghanis, four Saudis, two young women, an Egyptian, Moroccan, and Yemeni each.
Huge quantity of stolen items as well as weapons used during the robbery were seized from the gang members. These included three revolvers, one machine gun, 44 live ammunition, hashish, mobile phones, besides currency notes amounting to SR176,322, $105,400, 80,000 euros and 34,729 Egyptian pounds.
The gang members were arrested following several complaints about robbery and theft cases reported in Riyadh. Three expatriates sustained injuries after they came under attack by members of the gang in separate incidents. The robbers threatened the victims at gunpoint and fled the scene on stolen cars.
