Thousands turn out for Fun in Motion festival

JEDDAH — The first edition of Fun in Motion festival with the theme "Stay active, stay healthy" concluded at Kaki sports field here on Friday attracting more than 15,000 sports enthusiasts.

The three-day Jeddah Sports Festival, which began on Wednesday, had many such activities lined up for men, women and children of all ages at the Kaaki field in Khalidyah district. The event was organized by Benchmark, and supported and sponsored by the General Entertainment Authority.

The festival, in its first year, encouraged community members to keep themselves fit. The aim was also to urge people to see sports activities as an essential aspect of a healthy lifestyle.

Over the three days, young and old athletes competed in sporting events of all kinds and participated in several family and health oriented events, all in an exciting manner.

On the first day, the Kaki field in Khalediya district of Jeddah was filled with sport enthusiasts enjoying group activities like cycling, interactive lights and fitness activities supervised by certified trainers, as well as competitions among family members and friends in champion games like the giant chess and billiards.

Speaking on the final day, Zaki Hasanin, organizer of the event, said, “Whether the visitors were aiming to keep fit or looking for sports for recreational, professional or simply for a time out purpose, we got them all covered. It was a sports gathering for families, young and old to be connected with their favorite sports from cycling, football, electronic games, volleyball, fitness, running track, CrossFit, Yoga, boxing, bodybuilding, and other type of sports.”

He noted that the event provided a unique platform to educate, motivate and engage in living healthy and active lifestyles. “The event was geared toward creating an exciting location for the community to participate and interact with sports, while providing a platform for the family and for all ages.”

On the sidelines of the event, delicious and healthy food was displayed by entrepreneurs, productive families, restaurants and health clubs. On the other hand, health clubs, private sport trainers and nutritionists presented their services and consultations.
