RIYADH
– The Saudi security authorities have foiled a plot of Daesh (the so-called IS) to target two headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Riyadh.

Two Yemeni suicide bombers and two Saudis were arrested and suicide vests and arms were seized from their hideout in Al-Rimal district in Riyadh, according to an official source.

Ahmad Yasser Al-Kaldi and Ammar Ali Muhammad are the suicide bombers, who were apprehended before heading to target the ministry premises while the names of the Saudis were not disclosed for security reasons.

The investigations are continuing in the case, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the source as saying.

The official source said that the Presidency of the State Security was able to detect and foil a terrorist plot of Daesh terror group that targeted to undermine the Kingdom’s security.

Two explosive belts, each weighing 7 kilogram, and nine homemade grenades, firearms and knives were seized from a rest house that they used as their hideout in Al-Rimal district where the suicide bombers were provided with training on how to wear explosive belts and how to use them.

According to the source, the presidency officials were able to uncover and monitor the intelligence activities of a group of people who worked for external parties against the security of the Kingdom and its interests.

“The cell worked to disturb the capabilities and social safety of the Kingdom in order to stir up sedition and prejudice and destabilize national unity,” the statement said.
