After Jeddah, Blue Man Group to enthrall audience in Riyadh

Saudi Gazette report

— One of the world’s most loved and the most colorful performance groups is wooing crowds in Saudi Arabia, thanks to the General Entertainment Authority (GEA).

The Blue Man Group, which has been delighting crowds worldwide since 1991, has been performing at Jeddah’s Al-Jawhara Stadium, and will be bringing their iconic show to Riyadh’s King Fahad Cultural Center from Sept.14 –21, in a tour supported by GEA.

This is considered one of the biggest international shows ever to have visited Saudi Arabia, following last year’s establishment of the GEA which was set up as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, one of the chief pillars of which is to further develop a modern and vibrant society.

GEA is responsible for developing and leading the Kingdom’s emerging entertainment sector. It seeks to provide events and entertainment suitable for all sectors of society, helping enrich lifestyles and promote social cohesion.

Blue Man Group is a spectacular and unique show that combines music, technology and physical comedy to stunning effect. Since its formation, the touring show has visited over 20 countries and been seen by more than 35 million people. Backed by a live rock band, three blue-colored, hairless performers harness dance, theater and slapstick comedy to stunning effect, the group pokes fun at collective idiosyncrasies and reminds how much people from all over the world have in common. The group performs with no spoken words, so it’s perfect for all ages, languages and cultures.

Jeddah crowds enjoyed a spectacular show that would have been familiar to the group’s countless fans across the globe. Under the theme of science and technology, the Saudi audiences are being treated to sketches exploring human sight, color, the self-conscious and the internet, among other topics.

In addition to Blue Man Group, GEA has brought a wide range of events to Saudi Arabia, including Comic Con, Monster Trucks, and others.

Blue Man Group has permanent theatrical productions in New York, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Orlando and Berlin, as well as touring the world.
