K.P. Abdul Salam is new president of Jeddah MES

JEDDAH — K.P. Abdul Salam, a prominent community leader and managing director of Alpha Cargo Services Co., is the new president of the Jeddah chapter of the Muslim Educational Society. Salah Karadan is the general secretary and Mullavettil Salim is the treasurer. The election to the new office bearers was held at the general assembly meeting of the organization, presided over by the outgoing President P. V. Mohammed Ashraf.

Alungal Mohammed, president of Abeer Group, is the chief patron of the organization, while V. P. Mohammad Ali, chairman of Jeddah National Hospital, and P. V. Mohammed Ashraf are the patrons. Vice presidents: Hamza Seiko, Mohammed Kavungal, and N. M. Jamaludeen. Secretaries: K. T. Haider Ali, Raheem Baker, and Khalid V. T. P. Shubaib was chosen as special project officer and Roshan and Rashid as project coordinators.

The working committee members included Pappatta Kunji Mohammed, Alavi Aruveettil, Abdul Samad, K. A. Mohammed Nisar, P. A. Abdurahman of Shifa Jeddah Polyclinic, Akbar Karumara, Salim Ali, Zakir Hussain, Amir Ali P. M. Mohammed V. K. and Abdul Aziz A. A.

Dr. Ismail Maritheri and Abdul Majeed Naha felicitated the new office bearers of MES, one of the oldest expatriate organizations in the Kingdom and other Gulf states. They commended the services rendered by the previous committee and wished a great success for the new committee in their future activities. Earlier, Jamaludeen welcomed the gathering and Salah Karadan proposed a vote of thanks. The Kozhikode-based MES is a leading organization established in 1960s to boost educational empowerment of Muslims in India, especially in the state of Kerala.
