Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Moderation Center opened

JEDDAH
– Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, opened the new headquarters of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Moderation Center at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) on Wednesday. He also announced names of the winners of the center’s Moderation Award.

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Khaled emphasized that the Kingdom, since its inception, adopted moderation in all its affairs.

“The Kingdom, with its leadership, government and people, is proud to have the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as its constitution. “This is a happy moment in my life and the life of this great nation, which adopted moderation in its policies, culture and work, as well as in addressing all the domestic and foreign issues. Nobody can deny the great efforts being exerted since the time of the Kingdom’s founder King Abdulaziz until the time of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman highlighting this approach.”

The emir lauded the Saudi people for rallying behind their leadership at a time when the world is facing turbulence in the intellectual field as well as experiencing wars and extremist ideologies and policies.

The function was also attended by Prince Bandar Bin Khaled Al-Faisal, advisor at the Royal Court, Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar, deputy emir of Makkah, and Minister of Education Ahmad Al-Issa.

The winners of the Moderation Center Award will get a total amount of SR1 million. Fahd Al-Harbi and Business Faculty at KAU shared the award in the short film category while Bilad Al-Khayal team and Faisal Bin Mousa jointly bagged the award on cartoons. The award for translation goes to the English language institute at KAU.

Zakiyah Allahyani won the award in the category of innovative individual initiatives while It’am Society in the category of innovative institutional initiatives. Researchers Nasser Al-Saidi, Hana Al-Duhawi and Muhammad Al-Mutairi shared the prize in the category of quantitative statistic studies.

The awards in the categories of photography and digital arts are withheld.

A chair at KAU has been converted into the Moderation Center named after

Prince Khaled last year with the objective of fostering moderation and combating extremism.
