JEDDAH
— Members of the world-renowned Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, called the Red Arrows, are spending several days in Saudi Arabia, with a number of engagements and events planned – including a show in Jeddah Monday evening as part of Saudi Arabia’s National Day celebrations.

At a press conference, British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Simon Paul Collis announced the arrival of Britain's crack aerobatics team to perform a breathtaking free-to-watch display over Jeddah.

The British ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the aerobatic team, which is the result of cooperation and partnership of the two countries which dates back to more than 100 years.

"The visit celebrates the strong historical bonds and a close relationship between the two countries and today we are taking part to celebrate the National Day of Saudi Arabia and also to show our support for Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision.”

The Red Arrows showcase the excellence of the RAF and represent the United Kingdom both at home and overseas. The team consists of nine display pilots and more than 100 support personnel and technicians.

"We are very honored to have been invited to Saudi Arabia," said commander Fan Mohann. "The Red Arrows are ambassadors of the Royal Air Force and Great Britain and we aim to demonstrate UK's excellence wherever we perform. Our display is the product of highly skilled people in the air and on the ground and a reliable, easy to maneuver aircraft in the shape of Hawk planes.”

Team leader David Montenegro emphasized that RAF is a fantastic team. ''Our performances are different because we fly on different planes and that is why we came here to share experiences''.

The nine fast-jet pilots have had a busy summer, performing at more than 60 displays, involving precision flying in front of millions of people across the country and overseas.

The Red Arrows, or nicknamed The Reds, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force based at RAF Scampton. The team was formed in late 1964 as an all-RAF team, replacing a number of unofficial teams that had been sponsored by RAF commands.
