Riyadh — King Saud University is preparing 4,500 parking slots for female students and faculty members after a Royal decree issued last week approved granting driving licenses to women in the Kingdom.

This information was shared by the university Rector, Badran Al-Omar, in a tweet.

The university campus dedicated to female students, is “ready to implement the new decree by preparing 4,500 parking slots for female students and faculty members,” he wrote in a post published on Friday evening.

“The decision to allow women to drive will help them achieve substantial gains while also expanding their participation in the labor market,” he said in another tweet.

Female students warmly welcomed the Al-Omar’s tweets.

They also expressed how proud they are to be part of such a prestigious university, which has always been a leader and pioneer, and keen to keep up with social developments.
