MAKKAH
– The United Nations’ report on children in Yemen is the best example of the inefficiency and lack of expertise of the world-body’s chief in carrying out his missions in a fair and unbiased manner, media reports quoted experts as saying.

The experts blamed the UN for running away from its obligations in Yemen.

According to the experts, Guterres led the Portuguese government into bankruptcy when he was the prime minister, Al-Madina Arabic daily reported.

They blamed him for his racist views, citing that he has neglected the Palestinian cause and ignored the suffering of the Rohingya Muslims and thwarted the humanitarian relief work of the United Nations.

This attitude was evident from his handling of refugee issues when he served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Moreover, some parties and organizations in Yemen infiltrated into his administration so that they managed to prepare false reports and statistics.

The experts noted that his stint as adviser at a government bank in Portugal was the story of another miserable failure. He was fired from the government because of his lackluster attitude and weakness in taking decisions and that caused the collapse of the economy.

Some readers tweeted that Guterres no longer deserves to remain at the helm of the world-body and that Muslims, who make up one third of the world population, have to use their influence for this despite the fact that they had supported him to take over this post.

The UN chief failed to do justice to the Coalition as well as to the people of Yemen when it prepared a biased and unjust report, Makkah daily reported.

Guterres did not make any contacts or coordination with the legitimate government in Yemen while preparing the report. It also kept silence on the dismal humanitarian situation in Taez. On the other hand, the UN received its institutions based only in Sana’a.

The UN is also blamed for obstructing the coalition mission aimed at giving protection to civilians and making delivery of humanitarian supplies in Yemen.

The newspaper report showed the UN bodies issued statements against the coalition without consulting either the coalition or legitimate government in Yemen or Riyadh in order to verify the authenticity of information carried in the report.

Earlier, the UN used to have proper coordination with the coalition before preparing any statements.

The UN report was prepared in a way vindicating the false claims of Houthis and their supporters. There have been several lapses in the report, and these include ignoring the dangers posed by millions of mines planted by Houthis, recruitment of thousands of children, obstruction of delivery of humanitarian supplies, destroying houses of opposition activists and detention of journalists.

There are also reports pointing that the UN bodies concluded deals with companies and traders supporting Houthis, and that the UN agencies are involved in dispatching humanitarian assistance without the presence of any observers.
