Saudi hero who saved people from burning gas station loses family to house fire

October 16, 2017

RIYADH - A Saudi hero who saved more than 50 people by pushing a burning car away from a petrol station in the capital Riyadh last week has lost his mother and two siblings to a fire that broke out in his home on Sunday.

Sultan bin Huzaim al-Rajbani made headlines last week when he risked his own car, and life, to push a burning car away from petrol pumps at a gas station in Riyadh. Emir of Riyadh Prince Faisal Bin Bandar honored Rajbani for his bravery at the time.

Many were quick to send their condolences to Rajbani with some attributing the “evil eye” thrown at him and his family after his story went viral online.

According to Sabq newspaper, police reports indicated that the fire at Rajbani’s home was caused by a short circuit in the living room on the ground floor that led to flames engulfing the house as the family slept. -- Al Arabiya English
