Pact inked to recruit domestic help from Indonesia

JEDDAH
— Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali Al-Ghafis and Indonesian Minister of Manpower and Immigration Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri signed here on Monday minutes for the recruitment of Indonesian domestic workers.

Dhakiri thanked the Saudi government for its policies and initiatives to regulate the recruitment process and protect migrant workers.

Al-Ghafis explained the steps and policies taken by the ministry to develop recruitment operations, address challenges, and improve the recruitment procedures.

Both sides agreed to link the recruitment procedures with the electronic system for effective data sharing. The also agreed to establish a joint electronic mechanism for the accreditation of Indonesian employment agencies and recruitment offices and companies in the Kingdom. An agreement was also reached on opening a labor attaché office in Jakarta and exchanging expertise to evaluate recruitment offices and companies in both countries.
