Saudi Arabia: No VAT on housing rent and government services

October 16, 2017

Riyadh — The official Value Added Tax (VAT) twitter account said on Sunday that VAT will not be applicable on housing rents or governmental services in Saudi Arabia.

Some of the governmental services not adherent to the VAT include passport and driver’s license renewal.

The VAT account has recently been established to raise GCC VAT awareness which will be implemented in January of next year.

Saudi Arabia will be the first GCC member state to implement VAT levies in January 2018. The standard VAT rate will be five per cent, with a nil VAT rate for some goods. — Al Arabiya English
