DUBAI — GE Power is highlighting the future of power generation at the 19th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2017) at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), from Oct. 23 to 25.

Joseph Anis, President & CEO of GE’s Power Services business in the Middle East & Africa, said “the power generation industry in the UAE and wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is focused on enhancing efficiency, diversifying the energy mix, lowering costs and modernizing operations through digitization to meet the region’s growing energy needs. GE Power is committed to supporting its customers with industry-leading technologies that will help them meet these goals in a sustainable manner.”

Under the theme ‘The Future of Power Generation’ GE Power is showcasing industry-leading technologies at WETEX 2017 that offer greater efficiency, flexibility, sustainability and savings for the power sector. These include GE’s 9EMax gas turbine upgrade solution, which can help cut annual fuel costs by as much as $5 million, while creating the potential for up to $6 million in additional revenue, as well as its cross-fleet portfolio of solutions that support more than 90 original equipment manufacturers’ (OEM) brands of gas and steam turbines, generators, boilers and other balance-of-plant equipment.

Also taking center stage are GE’s H-class technology, the world’s most efficient heavy-duty gas turbine, which offers more than 63% combined cycle efficiency and leads to the remarkably cost-effective conversion of fuel to electricity; its ultra-supercritical steam technology, which powers the world’s most efficient coal-fueled power plant in Germany and will be deployed at DEWA’s upcoming Hassyan Clean Coal Power plant; GE’s 4.8-158 onshore wind turbine, its largest high efficiency turbine to date; GE’ss LV5 inverter, which is being deployed by DEWA at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and solutions; its advanced smart grid solutions; and much more.

GE has supported the development of the energy sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for over 80 years, providing innovative technologies that complement the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Today, GE-built technologies can generate up to 50 percent of the GCC’s electricity, supporting the energy sector’s transformation by utilizing various fuel sources, working across the electricity value network and deploying advanced digital industrial solutions.
