‘King fights corruption’ trends on Twitter

Riyadh — The hashtag in Saudi Arabia, “the king fights corruption,” became one of the highest worldwide trends on Twitter on Sunday morning, a few hours after an anti-corruption committee was formed by a royal decree.

According to Keyhole, the hashtag “king fights corruption” has been used over 700,000 since the decree was announced.

Women participation is estimated at 44.4%. Users were from GCC states, Egypt, US, Canada, India, Iraq, Turkey, France, UK and Germany.

It became one of the trendiest hashtags, with users sharing images of the King and the Crown Prince.

The royal orders were widely welcomed by Twitter users in Saudi Arabia.

Other hashtags include “Decisive Salman” which has been used tens of thousands of times.

The most circulated video on Twitter is of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman in which he says in an interview that “no one is above the law.” — SG
