LAS VEGAS — Young American Beau Hossler fired a bogey-free five-under-par 66 in tough conditions on Saturday to tie overnight leader J.J. Spaun heading into the final round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

Hossler, 22, finished with birdies at the 15th and 18th holes to reach nine-under as the wind whipped up during the third round at the TPC Summerlin course.

Spaun had a more challenging third round with three bogeys in his first five holes and another at the 17th leaving him with a two-over 73 and a share of the lead.

The 27-year-old was three clear of the field when bad light prematurely ended the second day's play but will now be on level pegging with Hossler on Sunday as they battle it out for what would be a maiden PGA Tour victory for both.

Spaun and Hossler are three clear of compatriot Tony Finau, who shot a 69 for third place. Four players were in a share of fourth at five-under.

Hossler came into the spotlight back in 2012 when he qualified for the US Open at the age of 17 and finished tied for 29th. He turned professional in 2016 and last week in Mississippi recorded his first top-10 finish in 14 starts.

Lowry leads Turkish

Airlines Open by 2

Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Shane Lowry will take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open. Kiradech started the third round on Saturday five shots behind leader Nicolas Colsaerts, and Lowry was six shots back. But Colsaerts, who led by five at the turn, carded a 2-over-par 73 and gave the field hope.

Lowry shot a 6-under 65 and Kiradech posted a 66 to reach 14 under for the tournament. Colsaerts was two behind, along with Justin Rose (64) and Padraig Harrington (64) at Regnum Carya golf and Spa Resort.

Defending champion Thorbjorn Olesen was in a group of six, which was four off the lead.

Indian Kapur shares

lead at Delhi event

India's Shiv Kapur, playing on his home course in New Delhi, ended Saturday by sharing the lead with American Paul Peterson on the third day of the Panasonic Open India tournament.

Kapur, who has never won a professional event at the Delhi golf Club, closed the day on three-under 69 following a 25-footer for eagle in the final hole.

Peterson, 29, the southpaw from Arizona who won the Czech Masters last year, began his day with an eagle and ended it with a chip-in from the edge of 18th to move from an overall 11-under to 13-under.

Another Delhi golfer, Shamim Khan, signed for a 69 to take third place on an Indian dominated field at the $400,000 Asian Tour event.

China's Feng shoots 68

to claim eighth LPGA title

China's Feng Shanshan carded a final-round four-under par 68 to defend her Japan Classic crown and take her eighth LPGA title with a two-stroke win over Ai Suzuki on Sunday.

Feng became the first player on the LPGA Tour to defend a title this season with a total of 19-under par 197 at the Taiheyo Club's Minori Course in Ibaraki.

Feng held a two-shot lead over Japan's Suzuki going into the final round but had a rollercoaster start, with two bogeys and two birdies in the first four holes.

The Chinese Olympic bronze medalist tucked away her first par at the fifth and from then on played blemish-free golf.

Feng's sixth birdie of the round at the 17th proved enough to hold off the charging Suzuki, who fought all the way but blew her final chance with a bogey at the 18th when a birdie would have forced a playoff.

It was Feng's second win of the season after the Volvik Championship in Michigan in May and her eighth LPGA win overall.

Helped by a stunning hole-in-one on the third, Sweden's Anna Nordqvist shot a six-under final round of 66 to finish third on 15-under par, two behind Suzuki. — Agencies
