We are far away from religion, that weakened us: Zia Nadwi

JEDDAH — “We are going far away from religion day by day and that has weakened us, and, in the process, we are being strategically targetted everywhere around the world,” said Zia Abdullah Abbas Nadwi, an eminent educationist, chairman Alfalah International School (DPS) and founder Alwaha International School (AWIS) Jeddah.

While addressing as a chief guest in the seminar titled “Massacre of Rohingya Muslims - The worst human illusion of the present century” organized by Pakistan Writer Forum (PWF) — a well-known literarily platform for writers and poets of the Pakistani community — at Mehran restaurant recently.

Nadwi said, “57 years ago in 1961 a great Indian Islamic Scholar Maulana Abdul Hasan Ali Nadwi had warned Muslims in Myanmar to return back to the path of Allah, otherwise they will face unpredictable consequences in the days to come.”

He said we should struggle to be a true Muslims and hold the rope of Allah. “Make our faith too strong and always ask Allah (SWT) to help us and protect us from all evils,” he added.

He appreciated the efforts of Al-Khidmat Foundation performing in the refugee camp in Bangladesh. He thanked PWF for inviting him to the seminar.

Earlier, the program started with the recitation of few verses from Holy Qur’an by Qari Muhammad Asif. Naat was presented by Syed Ahmed Raza Hashmi.

Noor ul Amin Wasi ur Rehman a social activist of Rohingya community in Jeddah and Makkah presented the complete history of Arakan and Muslims of Rohingya. He said till now thousands of Muslims have been killed.

Maulana Habib-ul-Rahman, the chairman of the Al-Khidmat Foundation KSA, told the audience about the work being done in the settlement of Bangladesh-based migrants camps. They urged the community to help their Muslim brothers.

Eminent poets Ather Nafees Abbasi and Zamurrad Khan Safi presented poems. A student from Pakistan International School (PISJ) Azizia Ahmad Zubair sang patriotic songs.

In his presidential address Syed Riaz Hussain Bukhari President Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) KSA said the future of Rohingya Muslims should be determined on a political basis. He praised PWS for holding the seminar and lauded the relief activities of Al-Khidmat Foundation. He said the services are needed and ideal.

Engineer Niaz Ahmed, chairman PWF, thanked all the guests and presented the following resolutions.

• The alarming and grave situation of massacre, carnage, ethnic cleansing, systematic and endemic discrimination against Rohingya Muslims, their forced displacement and suffering inflicted upon them is the worst humanitarian tragedy of Modern history.

• We call upon international community to immediately act upon the recommendations of September, 2017 of the Office of The High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR ) of the United Nation (UN).

• New York Declaration of Sept. 19, 2017 of The OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) under the Chairmanship of Secretary General of OIC Yousef Al-Othaimeen and The Report dated Aug. 24, 2017 of The Rakhine State Commission, Chaired by Kofi Annan.

The audience passed these resolutions unanimously.
