4 new promenades in Jeddah planned

JEDDAH — The municipality plans to build four new promenades and the total, number of these facilities in the city will be 22 by 2030.

Jeddah Municipality head Hani Abu Ras said the municipality encourages the general public to adopt an active lifestyle in order to maintain their health and physical fitness.

“Promenades are very important for pedestrians. It gives them a public space to exercise walking safely. As part of the Vision 2030, the municipality plans to ensure that the infrastructure of the city gives people the ability to exercise and have promenades,” said Abu Ras.

He added that the municipality has already built 18 promenades.

“They are collectively 50,000 meters long. They are dispersed in 14 different areas. The latest one built was Al-Shati Promenade that is 1,500 meters long.

The four new promenades are: Al-Hamdaniyah Promenade which will be 1,875 meters long, Al-Yamanah Promenade which will be 1,700 meters long, Al-Forusiyah Promenade which will be 1,970 meters long and Sea Front Promenade which will be 4,100 meters in length,” said Abu Ras.

He added the Sea Front Promenade will be 4,100 meters long. The promenades will be equipped with all of the needed facilities.

The current promenades are: Al-Rowdah Promenade, 23,000 meters long, built in 2013; Al-Nakheel Promenade, 1,500 meters long, built in 2013; Al-Safa Promenade, 1,200 meters long, built in 2013; Northern Corniche Promenade, 3,850 meters long, built in 2013; Palestine Street Promenade, 3,500 meters long, built in 2013; Al-Shabab Lake Promenade, 3,100 meters long, built in 2014; Al-Faisaliyah Promenade, 1,500 meters long, built in 2014; Al-Waha Promenade, 1,000 meters long, built in 2014; Dhahban Park Promenade, 1,100 meters long, built in 2015; Al-Saif Shati Promenade, 3,000 meters long, built in 2015; Al-Rehab Promenade, 1,800 meters long, built 2015; Al-Jamiah Promenade, 1,000 meters long, built in 2016; Zahrat Al-Waha Promenade, 1,000 meters long, built in 2017 Prince Fawaz District Promenade, 4,500 meters long, built in 2017; Al-Samir Promenade, 2,900 meters long, built in 2017; Al-Nakheel 2 Promenade, 1,500 meters long, built in 2017; Al-Safa 3 Promenade, 1,950 meters long, built in 2017; and Al-Shati Park Promenade, 1,500 meters long, built in 2017.
