Fun Day for kids with diabetes themed 'Thank You My Family'

— Over 500 people including children, their parents, sponsors, visitors and volunteers, turned out at the weekend for the International Diabetes Care Center (IDCC) Fun Day held at Boulevard Center. The event, specially designed as a treat for diabetic children to mark World Diabetes Day, was supported by Ministry of Health.

Themed “Thank You My Family,” the event engaged children in a number of activities such as diabetes screening area provided by the IDCC including nutritional health advise, entry to gallery/display of arts/messages/videos submitted by patients, physical kids activities wall climbing, live artist drawing, kids coloring/drawing, storytelling corner, photo booth corner, art project wall puzzle.

Wid Hussein Alharthy, founder of IDCC, said: “The purpose of this year's event was for children diagnosed with diabetes to show appreciation toward their families and friends who are the main supporters of their health and well-being.”

She said the Kids with Diabetes Fun Day allowed diabetic children and their parents to meet in a fun-filled environment to a network wherein they shared their experiences.

She also added that the IDCC main objective is to fulfill its mission to achieve its goal to promote meaningful and purposeful education and awareness programs aimed at both preventive and curative intents.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Saidi, manager of Boulevard, host of the event, said: “We are glad to be part of this awareness campaign with IDCC and we consider this event as part of the CSR program of Boulevard focused on playing a socially responsible role in society.”

Taking part in the event that aimed at boosting awareness among diabetic patients on ways to reduce risks, the Ministry of Health provided advice and distributed printed material as a matter of spreading education and information.
