Students’ Cabinet ‘sworn in’ at Almuna School

DAMMAM — Almuna International School, Dammam, conducted a colordul investiture ceremony in which the elected and selected school parliament members were sworn in, The Cabinet took charge by taking ‘oath of office’ from the principal.

Following the rules and regulations of a democratic election system, the school conducted a parliamentary election and elected head boy, assistant head boy, magazine editor, arts secretary and sports captain. House captains for four houses — Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz were also selected.

Husain Maqbool, the deputy director, Ministry of Foreign Education, Eastern Province, inaugurated the program and presented sashes, badges and flags to the leaders.

In his keynote address, Maqbool said, “Schools are the first point of leadership training. In order to succeed in life, people, particularly students shall face and solve the challenges of modern world. Leadership qualities are highly essential...leadership is a passion that encourages service mentality....”

He also witnessed as observer the first school Cabinet meeting. “This type of programs must be conducted in all international schools,” he said

“Al Muna School conducts a lot of activities to nourish the inherent talents of children; school parliament election is one among them. It is conducted every year in a very systematic and democratic way to mold future leaders....the school gives ample opportunity to all children to bring out their best in them....leaders of tomorrow are born in today’s classroom,” TP Mohammed, managing director of the school, said in his presidential address.

The program started with a prayer by Mohammed Binshad. The school Principal Mammoo Master led the ‘swearing in’ ceremony. The school Cabinet members Mohammed Adnan (Head Boy), Hamdan (Assistant Head Boy), Thouseef Ahmed (Sports Captain) Farook (Arts Secretary), Hisham Quraishi (Student Editor) took the oath of office.

PB Abdul Latheef (director of Almuna School), Abdul Khader (vice principal), Abdul Rasheed (vice principal), Fawas (HM), Shameel (academic administrator). Ashokan and Abdul Rauf were felicitated on the occasion.

After the ‘swearing ceremony, the first school Cabinet was held. ‘Mock Parliament’ was also conducted to give awareness to the children about the democratic parliamentary system.

Sports conveners Shihab and Mohammed Ali led the program. Najmudheen proposed vote of thanks. — SG
