Italian Cuisine Week offers gastronomic delights galore

— Italian Consul General Elisabetta Martini announced the events of the Italian Cuisine Week at the Italian Club here on Monday.

The Italian Cuisine is a joint initiative the Italian ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture promoting everywhere in the world through the country’s foreign missions.

There will be a total of 15 events in Jeddah. The mission will visit restaurants and hotels that will celebrate Italian food by holding the week.

Martini said Italy aims to raise the country’s food exports to 50 billion euros by 2020. “For this reason, we think throughout our diplomatic network we need to promote Italian restaurants, recipes because tourism can also be gastronomic event,” Martini told a press conference on the occasion.

“This year we doubled our partners in Jeddah, because we believe when cultures collaborate, the best products will be found. I think the Saudi sambosa is so similar to the Italian calzone,” she said.

The Cuisine Week will feature famous Italian chef Eleonora Galasso’s, a social media star at PIATTO, Lallo’s, Tartufo and Al-Safina Hilton restaurants.

Galasso’s is also going to cut the ribbon of the Italian products corner at Manuel Supermarket.

Galasso’s will conduct a workshop with Basma El Khereiji at the Social Kitchen. The name of the workshop is “Women and gastronomy between East and West.” The will also have a “Pop up cinema dinner” at Assila Hotel and a cooking show at Aromi restaurant.

There will be a public event at Park Hyatt with the consulate staff attending. The last event will be the “Street Food Festival” at the Italian Cultural Center.

The week will run until Nov. 26.
