SAEI and Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines enter into long-term maintenance deal

SAUDIA Aerospace Engineering Industries Company (SAEI) a subsidiary of Saudia Airlines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines to provide long-term aircraft maintenance services exchanged between them case by case and project by project.

The agreement expands the support and maintenance solutions in the field of component service which forms the basis to pursue a longer term business partnership between both companies in support of their customers’ fleet operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and surrounding market in Africa.

Under the terms of the MOU, the companies cooperate in component maintenance and component pool services, and improving partnership with working together for warehouse and logistics services, as well as studying opportunities and projects by sharing and using the infrastructure of the two parties to take advantage of opportunities to attract and win customer confidence in both regions.

The MOU was signed in Addis Ababa by MD Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines Zelalem Tsehaye and SAEI Managing Director Ali Al Ashban.

MD Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines Zelalem Tsehaye said: “The Middle East and Gulf regions are extremely important for us and SAEI has excellent location and unique experience. Extending cooperation with the SAEI fits perfectly Technical Unit’s global strategy for increasing customer services and widening its network.”

He added: "The fleet of Ethiopian Airlines are the strongest and most reliable in Africa. We are confident that this partnership with our specialty aircraft's Hangers, our experience and reliability, make Technical Unit’s of Ethiopian able and strong in this direction to expand with its new partners."

“A strategic partnership SAEI and Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines will be a new phase is the start of a different model in the relationship with our customers, where our two companies are considering the option for a long term strategic partnership, and to develop aircraft maintenance industry activity in KSA following the guidelines of Kingdom’s Vision 2030," said SAEI Managing Director Ali Al Ashban.

He added: " We are delighted with this strengthened cooperation with Technical Unit of Ethiopian Airlines, The agreement will set the guidelines for case by case and project by project approach to create better collaboration between two great market players in the aircraft maintenance industry in Africa and the Middle East for a better value proposition for our customers.”

The agreement is the second of its kind concluded by SAEI in one month. It was the first agreement with the Turkish technic. — SG
