ABU DHABI — Míchel Salgado, FIFA and Real Madrid legend and director of Spanish Soccer School, treated the 100 top performers from the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Mobile Roadshow to an incredible 'meet & greet' at Zayed Sports City Stadium on Saturday, ahead of the second round fixtures.

"I am expecting Real Madrid to lift the trophy for the second time in a row especially as they compete here on my home soil...now that I am living in the UAE," said FIFA Legend, Míchel Salgado.

Top scorers from four age group categories for boys and girls — U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-17 — were rewarded with great prizes and the chance to test their skills alongside the Spaniard Salgado at Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City.

The FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 is host to a one-of-a-kind Fan Village at both Zayed Sports City and Hazza Bin Zayed stadia, and is open three hours prior to kick-off on match days. The Fan Village consists of seven fun zones that suit all age groups, featuring football games and virtual activities.

The Mobile Roadshow has been touring the UAE in the lead up to the tournament and has seen thousands of participants go head to head, with many testing their skills and trying to beat the scores of FIFA legends Eric Abidal, Ivan Córdoba, Mikael Silvestre, Dwight Yorke and Al Jazira first-team stars. The Fan Village also gives supporters the unique chance to take selfies with their team’s respective continental trophy.

“The commitment of the Local Organizing Committee to make the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 accessible to all is truly inspirational. Through their community engagement program, we’ve seen a direct impact on youngsters from GEMS and many other schools and academies across the entire UAE.

“Our kids have moved participating in the Mobile Roadshow, to becoming youth leaders which has enabled them to assume important positions in the tournament including flag carriers, and now proven their skills to be crowned the Ultimate Heroes for being the leading skilled players of their age groups and genders.

“We are proud to be bringing our students to the match on Dec. 9 to receive incredible prizes and to see the best footballers of the world. Through these initiatives, we’ve witnessed an increase in the number of youngsters who want to become higher level sportspeople and ultimately lead to a healthier lifestyle," said Ryan Howell, Director of Sports, GEMS Cambridge International School — Abu Dhabi. — SG
