Envoy Alonto pays courtesy calls on Myanmar and Thailand Embassy officials

RIYADH — Philippine Ambassador Atty. Adnan V. Alonto paid courtesy calls on Danai Menabodhi, charge d’ affaires of the Thai Embassy, and Ambassador Ko Ko Latt of Myanmar on respectively.

Citing the rising significance of regional groupings such as ASEAN, Ambassador Alonto expressed his eagerness to build and strengthen official as well as personal relationships with his ASEAN counterparts in Saudi Arabia. Alonto conveyed his gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him by the Heads of Posts of ASEAN countries in Saudi Arabia on his arrival in Riyadh.

Alonto signed a book of condolences at the Thai Embassy to express his sympathies on behalf of the president and the Filipino people, on the passing of former ASEAN Secretary General Suri Pitsuwan.

Ambassador Alonto was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Noel L. Rodriguez and Attache Faisal Tamano.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh successfully conducts its 28th Overseas Voting (OV) Registration Outreach for the year 2017 at Golden Tulip Hotel in Hail, on Dec. 8-9.

The two-day registration outreach was conducted in parallel with the Embassy-On-Wheels Consular Outreach. The OV Team was able to register 51 new Overseas Voters, 99 for the Certifications, 3 for Transfer of Registration Record and 22 for Reactivation.

The next schedule of OV Mobile Registration is ongoing in Dhahran, Dec. 11–14.

The Philippine Embassy invites all Filipinos in the Saudi Arabia to register as overseas voters in order to exercise their right to suffrage that would enable them to vote for the Senatorial Elections in 2019. — SG
