PHILANTHROPIST Firoz Merchant held a meeting with philanthropist Saeed Al-Raqbani, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the University of Fujairah last Dec. 7

During the eve of 46th UAE National Day Celebration, Saeed Bin Muhammad Al-Raqbani was honored as one of the 46th recipients of the prestigious “UAE Pioneers Award” in recognition of his philanthropic works by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, led by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Philanthropist Firoz Merchant is in the process of signing an agreement with the University of Fujairah, which has approximately 450 students, to support the education expenses of female Emirati students in need for the four-year duration of their undergraduate studies. The “Student Scholarship” program will initially start with 5 female Emirati students at a cost of AED700,000 and gradually increase to 25 students. Emirati female students who come from rural areas and cannot afford the expense of higher studies shall be benefitted from this “Student Scholarship” program.
