KSA key to advance international cooperation: Argentina envoy

RIYADH
— The Argentine Ambassador Jamie Sergio Cerda said that the Argentine Republic, which assumed the presidency of The Group of Twenty (G20), will take the lead in building consensus and cooperation.

Argentina President Mauricio Macri announced as the new president of the G20, Argentina will lead the agenda, guiding it towards building a consensus that allows all countries to commit to equitable and sustainable development that creates opportunities for all.

Speaking to Saudi Gazette, the ambassador stated that among the members of the G20 is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it is convinced that the contribution in the negotiations by Saudi Arabia will be fundamental to advance the international cooperation agenda.

The G20 agenda is very broad and includes not just issues of global economy, financial markets, fiscal issues, trade, agriculture, employment, energy and the fight against corruption, but also issues recently incorporated into the agenda as: the participation of women in the labor market, sustainable development, global health, the fight against terrorism and inclusive ventures.

The goal of Argentina as president of the G20 is to build a consensus to achieve equitable and sustainable economic development that generates opportunities for all citizens and is in line with the priorities of the Latin American region.

The priorities of the G20 agenda in 2018 will be: the future of work that implies thinking about an education that provides equal opportunities, infrastructure for development, and food security to guarantee a global system of inclusive food provision, sustainable, efficient and healthy.

Civil society can participate in the G20 in business forums, civil participation, employment, science, thinking, women and youth.

Throughout 2018 there will be more than 50 meetings with the participation of official members and guests. All the work will end with the Leaders’ Summit that will take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, when a final declaration will be adopted in which they will commit to collaborate on the topics that have been part of the agenda during the year 2018.
