New Al-Wurood Jeddah bags Best Cup 2017

DAMMAM — New Al-Wurood International School Jeddah defeated New Middle East International School 3-1 in a thrilling final and clinched the Best Cup 2017 in the Under-14 Football Tournament, organized by Al-Khozama International School Dammam at Euro Village recently.

The final rose to the occasion with stellar display of soccer skills, excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and fighting spirit.

Al-Khozama International School hosted the event for CBSE schools to tap and promote talent at an early age, improve comradeship, sportsmanship and respect for values among students.

The 7 schools which fought for honors were: New Al-Wurood International School Jeddah, Al-Yasmin International School Riyadh, New Middle East International School Riyadh, Modern International School Riyadh, Yara International School Riyadh, Dunes International School Dammam and host Al-Khozama International School.

Shuhaib of New Al-Wurood was crowned the best player of the tournament. He was awarded a round-trip air ticket by Oman Air to his native place. Waseem was acclaimed the promising and emerging player of the tournament. Adnan and Muhammed Abdullah (AKIS) clinched the awards for the best goalkeeper and the best goal, respectively. The best defender was Kamil of New Middle East International School Riyadh and Arib of Yara International School Riyadh was the top scorer.

The 2017 Best Cup was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Salam, Faculty Member, King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and former chairman of International Indian School Dammam. Dr. Vidya Shetty and Maz Karim, Academy Manager, Etthifak Football Club, were the chief guests during the closing ceremony. General Manager AM Ashraf, Group Manager S.M. Noushad, Deputy Group Manager Razi Shaikpareeth, Principal Mrs. Jayasree Muraleedhar, Head Master Niyas Chirakkara, Physical Education Coordinator Bino Mathew graced the occasion.

The event ended successfully with excellent support from teachers, administration and transport staff of the school.

This event is one of the most prestigious programs, conducted by BEST (Bridgeway Educational Systems and Training Services Limited) Group to nurture the co-curricular skills of students. Former Indian football team goalkeeper Victor Manjila visits BEST Group of Schools (Al-Khozama International School Dammam and New Al-Wurood International School Jeddah) every year, while Bino Mathew, Praven Kumar and Yoonus Sirajuddin of PE Dept follow up the training without break.

Apart from classroom learning, sports and games play an inevitable role in the physical and intellectual growth of children. With this in mind, BEST is providing various training programs to the children. These sessions, conducted in the campus and outside, are providing an ideal platform for the students to hone their skills and also to face the practical challenges in life with ease. — SG
