MAKKAH — As many as 11,709 lingerie and women's accessories shops have failed to feminize their jobs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development said after making a total of 55,494 inspection tours of the markets, according to press reports on Tuesday.
The ministry's spokesman, Khalid Aba Alkhail, said during the tours, as many as 8,865 violations were discovered concerning the nationalization and feminization of jobs.
He said a total of 7,331 warnings were issued to the violating shops to correct their situation or face punishments.
Aba Alkhail said 43,785 shops were found to have strictly followed the decision on job nationalization and feminization.
According to the spokesman, during the inspection rounds, the ministry's officials discovered 2,241 violations of Saudization regulations and 5,233 violations of job feminization rules. In addition, 1,291 miscellaneous violations were detected.
The third phase of the feminization of jobs in women's accessories and garments shops was launched on Oct. 21, 2017. It covered all shops selling women's perfumes, shoes, bags, stockings, ready-made garments and others.
Small shops and kiosks selling wedding dresses, abayas, makeup material, maternity requirements and others were covered in this phase.
Aba Alkhail asked citizens to cooperate with the ministry's job nationalization program and inform it about any violations found in shops by calling the toll free number 19911.
