JEDDAH — The South Terminal Departure (STD) defeated RAMP 4-3 in the final of the inaugural Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) Football Tournament at Saudi Airlines Sports Club here on Wednesday. South Terminal Departure team emerged champion following a competitive finale in which fortunes changed hands regularly.

“The main objective of the tournament is to engage the employees in fitness activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle and social interaction. Such activities create healthier and friendlier work environment, which reflects positively on the employees’ productivity and eventually the company’s overall performance,” Eng. Omar Najjar commented.

“I extended my appreciation to those who worked very hard to make this tournament a success. We are considering implementing such activities for our employees across the kingdom,” he added.

The Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS) was established as a limited liability company in 2008 with a capital of SR5,000 in line with the strategic objective. In 2014, the company was transformed from a limited liability company to a closed shareholding company and in 2015 to a Publicly Listed Company, with an increase in capital SR 1,880,000,000.

The main activity of the company is to provide ground handling services and support services including passenger services in the lounges and hall services at airports including fleet services, technical services, transportation services, traffic control services, and luggage services in the 27 airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for many domestic and international airlines. — SG
