Pakistani Kinnow proves a draw at Manuel

JEDDAH — The one-week Pakistani Kinnow promotional campaign was inaugurated at Manuel Super market Stars Avenue Mall Branch, Jeddah, with many in attendance.

Mazan Batterjie, vice chairman Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI), was the chief guest. The other guests of honor at the occasion were Abdulelah Al Dervish, chairman Manuel, and Khalid Al Dervish, CEO of Manuel Supermarket.

The inauguration was also attended by leading businessmen of Saudi Arabia dealing in food sector, foreign diplomats, representatives of media and the valued customers of Manuel supermarket.

In his comments at the occasion Batterjie appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Consulate and said that there is a strong presence of fruit and vegetables from Pakistan due to the variety of produce and competitive prices.

He added, JCCI is encouraging and supporting such initiatives and assured complete support for activities planned by the Consulate to promote bilateral trade and investment.

Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Consul General of Pakistan Shehryar Akbar Khan said, “Pakistan is the sixth largest producer of Kinnow and oranges in the world, with around 2 million tons annual produce. Pakistan has a large number of farms, which are processing the fruit according to the globally recognized standards.”

Khan said that this event was an interactive campaign at sale point between the seller and buyer to introduce Pakistani Kinnow to the Saudi consumers. He appreciated the partnership between the Al-Rafique Enterprises, management of Manuel supermarket and the commercial section of the consulate for holding such a successful event. He also thanked the Manuel Supermarket for hosting the event to promote Kinnow in the Kingdom.

Arshad Munir, consular (press) at Consulate General, said in a press statement that the Commercial Section of the Consulate in collaboration with Manuel Supermarket and Al Rafique Group Pakistan has organized a one-week citrus promotional campaign. It includes in-store promotion, and display of citrus products.

“The Consulate of Pakistan is promoting this prime fruit of Pakistan in the market with introduction of Kinnow Pakistani having its uniqueness as non-genetically modified version of citrus range available in the world with additional qualities,” he added.

Apart from impressive display of the Kinnow, in partnership with Manuel, a variety of delicacies of Kinnow flavor were also available for tasting at the event. The weeklong promotional event will include in-store promotion and display of Kinnow. Kinnow would be sold out from all the stores of Manuel Supermarket at promotional rates during their business timing.
