JEDDAH — Pepsi Deccan Knights Shawahid Technology surprised favorites and unbeaten Hyderabad Sharks by crushing them by 104 runs in Qualifier 1 while Banswada Ball Burners thrashed ICAD by 8 wickets in Eliminator matches of the CIT SPL T20 3rd Edition.

Hyderabad Sharks will meet BBB in Qualifier 2 with the winner playing PDK Shawahid Technology in the final on Feb. 9. The event is sponsored by Canadian International Trading Company and co-sponsored by Initial Services, Air India, Hyderabad Sharks, Khind Electronics, Arrow Food Distribution Company (Mizo Juices) and PEPSI (SIPCO) and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association.

PDK Shawahid began on a positive note with Bilal and Afroz scoring at a brisk rate before Afroz (32) was dismissed. Bilal and Kashif then tore apart Hyderabad Sharks fearsome bowling attack by hitting them exquisitely through the field and over the rope with ease. Bilal remained unbeaten with a superb 98 inclusive of 8 fours and 7 sixes while Kashif entertained the crowd with 9 fours and a six. PDK ended at 240 for 2 wickets.

In reply Hyderabad Sharks had no answer to the pace of Mazhar Abbasi, who ripped through the top order with figures of 4 for 31 and Babar, who chipped in with 2 for 8 as the Sharks folded up for 136. Saddam 24, Sheroze 21 and Sada 20 offered some resistance as PDK won handsomely by 104 and entered the finals for the first time in SPL.

In the Eliminator match ICAD put up a formidable tally of 205 for 6 in 20 overs, with Khalid laying a solid foundation scoring 69 off 38 balls (10 fours 1 six) while Naeem (37), Shakeel 34 and Usman 30 n.o. giving good support. In reply Khawar Sohail with an unbeaten 82 of 39 balls (12 fours, 3 sixes), Amer Wahla 56 of 25 balls (9 fours, 2 sixes) and Amer Siddiqui 54 of 26 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes) dented the ICAD bowling to reach target of 207 for 2 in 16.3 overs. Khalid shone with the ball (2 for 33) but could not prevent BBB racing to 8 wicket win.
